Vincent Lim was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in June 1989.
Vincent is a graduate of the University of Sydney. He was awarded a Bachelor of Economics in 1986 (majoring in Accounting), Bachelor of Laws in 1989 and a Master of Laws in 1995.
Between 1989 and 2000 Vincent worked in two of the leading law firms in Sydney in the areas of Corporate & Commercial law, Corporate Insolvency and Restructuring, and Litigation/Dispute Resolution.
Vincent has an excellent understanding of the workings of the commercial world having also completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments at the Securities Institute of Australia (SIA), now known as the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA). Vincent is currently a Fellow of FINSIA.
In 1995, Vincent was awarded an Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Asia-Pacific Fellowship pursuant to which he worked in a law firm in China for a period of 12 months on corporate and commercial matters and continued to develop an extensive network of legal and business contacts within China, Hong Kong and South-East Asia in particular Singapore and Malaysia.
Vincent was also formerly the Secretary of the Business Law Section of LAWASIA and the Chairman of its Corporate Insolvency standing committee.
Between 2000 and 2004, Vincent was a consultant to a number of private companies in Sydney engaged in business and company acquisitions. In 2004, Vincent set up his own legal practice at 88 Phillip Street, Aurora Place, Sydney, specialising in corporate and commercial matters and dispute resolution work which included major corporate and commercial litigation in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Federal Court of Australia. In July 2009 he merged his practice with Aequitas Attorneys to form Aequitas VTS Lawyers.
Vincent Lim is regarded by his clients as having one of the best strategic minds in legal and commercial matters.
Since 1989 Vincent has been involved in a wide range of work for corporate clients relating to capital raisings, setting up of joint ventures, shareholders’ agreements, resolution of complex contractual/corporate disputes in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in Sydney and the Federal Court of Australia, arbitrations and mediations of large commercial disputes, advising and representing clients in matters relating to allegations of breaches of directors’ duties and insolvent trading, and advising and representing clients in investigations and inquiries by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).
